The short answer
Remediation Insider is an independent publication covering the restoration, remediation and disaster recovery trade. We publish original datasets built from public federal and state records, and we cite every number we use. We are not owned by a franchise, a software vendor or a trade association.
Why this exists
The restoration trade is served by two kinds of writing. Trade magazines publish short opinion columns for an audience that already works in the industry. Service companies publish cost guides that exist to sell the service being priced. Both are useful. Neither is independent, and neither publishes the underlying data.
We looked at the search results for 62 common restoration queries before starting this publication. Trade publications held one percent of the results. Forums held fifteen percent. The most-read cost guide on the first page of several searches was published by a contractor describing his own pricing. On the industry-statistics queries, the top results were subscription market-research reports.
So the gap we are filling is a publication that does the arithmetic in public.
What we publish
- Original datasets. Built from federal and state public records, with the method and the limits written out. The Restoration Demand Index is the first.
- Pricing and margin reporting for contractors, which is the question the rest of the trade press does not answer.
- Cost and process guides for property owners, with the sources linked rather than named.
- Standards and licensing reference, because the published state-by-state lists contain errors we can demonstrate.
Who writes it
Articles carry the byline Remediation Insider Editorial Team. We do not invent individual authors, credentials or years of experience to make the work look more authoritative than it is. What we will tell you is exactly where each number came from and when it was retrieved, which is a stronger claim than a biography.

How we are funded
See How we make money. In short: we intend to sell advertising, directory listings and job postings, and we label paid placement wherever it appears. We do not sell editorial rankings.
